MANUREWA INTERESTS
IMPROVEMENTS TO HALL SUGGESTIONS NOT FAVOURED Suggestions for the reconstruction of the Manurewa Town Hall to make it suitable to house public functions were discussed last night by the Town Board when a deputation from the local school committee made representations. The speakers said that there was no suitable accommodation locally and organisations had to arrange their functions elsewhere. The chairman, Mr. W. J. Ferguson, said a sub-committee had already prepared plans for improved office accommodation. The expense of adopting any major scheme, however, would probably run to £ISOO, which was beyond thp board's financial resources. Mr. Eustace Gray said there would probably not be more than 10 public functions each year . and the revenue would not warrant heavy expenditure. The deputation was advised that there was no immediate prospect of its suggestions being carried out. The board also decided that it could not undertake any responsibility for the reconditioning of the Lupton Memorial Park, which was vested in the school committee and the Auckland Education Board.
