OPOTIKI CHAMPIONSHIP [BT TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] OPOTIKI, Monday The Opotiki Rifle Club fired its championship at the week-end over the 500 and 800 yard ranges. The wind and changing light proved troublesome to the new members and also to a certain extent to the old. J. D. Clark was the only man who could keep to the bulls and inners. H. Bridge put up the best score of the day, considering that he was using an open sight. The following were the best scoresJ. D. Clark, 500 yds 46. 600 yds 44—total 90: G. F. Joblin, 45, 43—88; H. There was a bright light and a tricky fish-tail wind. The championship was won by W. Norris. with the runner-up in the New Zealand championship,, D. E. Wilton, and J. Litch,field, second.
