DETENTION IN BORSTAL
THEFTS BY AUCKLAND YOUTH SUITCASE AND CHEQUE [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON. Monday "It is difficult to know what to do with accused," said Detective-Ser-geant J. Thompson in the Hamilton Police Court to-day, when Christopher Harry Norris, aged 18, was charged with the theft of a suitcase owned by F. C. Williams, and a cheque valued at £.'3, the property of A. Wilkinson. Mr. Thompson said accused, who admitted the offences, would not stay at his home in Auckland and had no money and few clothes. The magistrate, Mr. S. L. Paterson, imposed a sentence of seven days' imprisonment on the first count, and on the second count ordered accused's detention in a Borstal Institute for two years.
