WORLD UNEMPLOYED
I CONTINUED REDUCTION | For almost three years the quarterly statistics of the International Labour Office have shown a regular decrease in unemployment in the majority of countries for which information is available. Figures issued at the end of March reveal a continuance of this improvement, though, in most eases, it has been slight. In comparison with the position at the corresponding date of last year, the number of registered unemployed, has shown a decrease in Australia, Canada, Scandinavian countries, Franco, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, New Zealand, and the United States of America. In the last report, at the end of December, France and New Zealand showed a slight increase, but during the quarter the figures of unemployment have moved downward. The International Labour Office states that the report has definite limitations, and only permits of a comparison of trends, not affording any comparison between employment and unemployment in several countries.
