FORGED CHEQUE
LABOURER PLEADS GUILTY OFFENCE WHILE IN CAMP [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] KAIKOHE, Thursday Appearing in the Kaikohe Police Court to-day before Messrs. J. J. Bedggood and T. Moore, J.P.'s, a labourer, John Johnson, aged 23, of Ohaeawai, pleaded guilty to two charges of forging and uttering a cheque for the sum of £7 15s.
Kvidence was given by Constable D. Robertson that accused was a member of the Territorial Force, and that when in camp in Whangarei he forged the name of A. B. Cook and cashed the cheque at an hotel. Vhe cheque was taken from H. T. Atkinson's cheque book. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail was fixed at £2OO, with a surety of £IOO.
