DAVIS CUP CONTEST
AUSTRALIAN TEAM'S COACH
' QUIST AND McGRATH TROUBLED
(Received May 26, 5.5 p.m.) 2S T EW YORK. May 36
The Philadelphia correspondent of the New York Times reports that the members of the Australian Davis Cup team are not as fit as they might be. Quist is troubled by a bad finger, and McGrath by a bad wrist. Quist's blistered index finger troubled him again to-day while he was playing in a dqubles match with Crawford against McQrath -and Sproule. McGrath, who apparently fell on his right arm last week, had his wrist bandaged to-day, although apparently it, did not interfere with his game. It is announced that Vincent Richards will act as practice coach for the Australians during the nest few days. Sproule expressed satisfaction at having Richards on the side lines for the last crucial days of the team's training.
Davis Cup officials announce that, contrary to the practice of past years, all the singles matches will be played on the one court, and the doubles on another. Previously two courts were used for the singles.
