QUEEN MARY'S BIRTHDAY
OBSERVANCE IN AUCKLAND. In honour of the 69th anniversary yesterday of the birth of Queen Mary flags were flown on all the principal public buildings in the city and suburbs and also on a number of commercial buildings. The several units of the Ne* Zealand Division of the Royal NaTy in port "dressed ship" and a Royal salute of 21 guns was fired from the naval base at Devonport. At yesterday's meeting of the Auck* land Harbour Board it was announced by the chairman, Mr. C. G. Macindoe," that he had forwarded the following message to the private secretary to tltf Governor-General, Viscount Galway:** "Will you please convey through Htf Excellency the heartiest congratulation* and best wishes of the chairman afl? members of the Auckland Harbour Board on the occasion of the 69th birth* day of Her Majesty Queen Mary-'
