THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE BRISK BUSINESS DONE Hrisk trading was again done on the Auckland Stock Kxchange yeste.rday when the inquiry generally showed an improvement. Offers tor Government loans fluctuated, hut the '\h per cents received hotter support. Business was confined to the 1940, 4 per cent, stock, which recovered after dealing at a lower rate. There was a scattered inquiry for banks. Commercials of Australia, preference, dropped Is in business at £'o Ss, and luiglish, Scottish and Australian were easier alter a sale od higher at £'6 3s 'i'd. In a transfer at lf>s Ud, Xew Zealands were 'id cheaper, while the D mortgage issue lost (id at 2!ls 6d. Holders of insmance shares mnd«»| slight- concessions. Jn loan and agency Traders' Finance, preference, were done at ISs (3d, a reduction of l's since last year. Auckland Gas were active, closing slightly cheaper at -5s lid. New Zealand Refrigerating (10s paid) also lost ground nnd Wil sous Cement were not wanted At 46s (3d after business (id cheaper at that price. A stronger demand for TjVoolworths (N.Z.) resulted in sales at £" 16s Gd and £'7 18s. a full gain of 5s Cd. Farmers' Fertilise! and Farmers' Trading also improved in dealing. Business in Australian issues was marked by a sharp rise in Australian Glass, which will benefit as a result of the new tnritf policy. Broken Hills nlso made an advance, but G. J.
