AUCKLAND CONFERENCE DISCUSSION OF REMITS ' W-W : -' Over 100 delegates, representing farmers in various parts of the Auckland were present at the opening of the 36th annual Auckland Provincial conference of the New Zealand Farmers' Union yesterday. Mr. H. 0. Mellsop_'presided, and the conference was officially opened by Mr. W. J. Polson, M.P. for Stratford. The agenda includes the consideration of 64 remits and the conference will continue throughout the week. Several remit 3 were carried yesterday, but the more important which engaged discussion nearly all the afternoon concerned compensated prices. A remit from the Whangarei branch of the union, carried after considerable discussion, stated that a substantial proportion of the iiew credits proposed to be issued by the Government should be pnt into circulation by the payment to farmers of A guaranteed compensated price, the price -to be such as would restore farmers' equities, enable them to carry out their contracts and generally to bring-their prices into a fair relationship to internal costs, with due provision for a rise or fall, in accordant® with variation in those costs. Another remit, which - was carried, concerning compensated prices, was received from the Northern Wairoa and Bay of Plenty branch of the union and read as follows:—That prices of farm Soducts taken over by the State should relative to the actual goods obtainable, overseas for those products, taking into consideration, all increases in costs in New Zealand.
