MANY TASMAN CROSSINGS
FRIENDLY ROAD DIRECTOR RETURN FROM SYDNEY VISIT [by telegraph OWN correspondent] WELLINGTON, Tuesday After completing 14 crossings of the Tasman in 18 months the Rev. C. G. Scrimgeour, director of the Friendly Road radio station, IZB, Auckland, arrived at Wellington by the Monowai from Sydney. He said he had been going backward and forward between Australia and New Zealand for about a yflar and a-half carrying on Friendly Road sessions from the radio stations 2UE and 2GB, Sydney, as well as from Auckland.
Referring to the fact that when he was in Australia IZB carried on with its own staff, aided by records mado by himself, Mr. Scrimgeour said: "Most artists who are at all regularly on the air now make records. People very seldom know whether they are listening to me or to a record. The effect is that I can speak in both places at once. When m New Zealand I have often listened to mvself speaking from Sydney." He added that the Friendly Road was very popular in Australia and said he intended to continue the present arrangement. He was speaking on the air approximately seven times a week.
