FOOTBALL MISHAPS
PLAYERS IN HOSPITAL FRACTURES AND CONCUSSION Several football players were admitted to the Auckland Hospital on Saturday suffering from injuries received while playing, but the condition of none of them is serious. Most of them were taken in St. John ambulances. While playing for Devonport in a third grade League match against Green Lane, at Devonport, Reginald Clifford Tapp, aged 21, single, of 11 Vauxball Road, Devonport, suffered a fractured leg. A similar injury was received by a schoolboy, Richard Charles Whitmore, aged 15, of Bombay, when playing Rugby at the Pukekohe High School.
The following suffered concussion:— Maurice Campbell, aged 16, butcher, of 205 Great South Road, Green Lane; Robert Morrisey, aged 26, single, a barman living at the Freeman's Hotel, Freeman's Bay; Arthur Jack Willis, aged 21, single, of 167 Hobson Street, City. SERIOUS HEAD INJURIES TWO PLAYERS IN HOSPITAL [fbom oxnt own correspondent] HAMILTON. Sunday Serious neck injuries were received by Rex Gear, of Leamington, when playing for Leamington against Hautapu at Rugby football yesterday. He was admitted to the Waikato Hospital for X-ray examination.
While playing in a senior match at Ngaruawahia yesterday Mr. George Welsh, of Ngaruawahia, received a severe blow on the head and suffered concussion. After being attended to by Dr. D. Martin the injured player was removed to the Waikato Hospital, where his condition was reported as serious.
A serious scalp wound, which necessitated the insiertion of several stitches, was received by Mr. C. Broadley, of Whitikahu, when he collided with a Huntly player in the junior match played at Whitikahu yesterday.
