MITFORD—ALLEN • The wedding was celebrated on Thursday at the Williams Memorial Church, Paihia. Bay of Islands, between Bertram Georfrc Mitford, son of Mrs. Mitford, of Wellington, and the late Mr. B. G. Mitford, and Barbara, younger daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel R. C. Allen, D.5.0., of Paihia, and the late Mrs. Allen. The bride, who entered the clnirch with her father, wore a beautiful frock of cream satin, its classical lines flowing into a long train. The tul!e veil fell from a wreath of orange bio 3soms and formed a secondary train She carried an exquisite bouquet of orchids. The two bridesmaids were Miss Effie Studholme, of Paihia, and Miss Barbara Thorne George, of Auckland They wore frocks of powder blue flat crepe falling into trains and a halo of lilies and heather on their heads. Sheafs of chrysanthemums and cylamen were carried. The bridegroom was attended by his two cousins, Mr. W. G. Tripe, of Fordell, as best man, and Mr. Hugh Johnson, of Wellington, as groomsman. The Rev. T. J. Wilkes performed the wedding ceremony. Tho church had been beautifully decorated by friends of tho bride with grouped hydrangeas in rich autumn colourings. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Mitford, wore a graceful ensemble of delphinium blue lace with a becoming hat of blue velvet to tone, trimmed with white ospreys. She carried a bouquet of fuchsias and autumn leaves. A reception was held at the home of Colonel Allen, and among tho 70 or more.guests who attended were: —Sir Stephen and Lady Allen, Mr. J. M. Allen, Miss Thompson, M rs. Cuthbert Mitford, Mrs. W. ,T. Tripe, Mrs. Canning. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Reed, Mrs. Foster (Auckland), Mr. and Mrs. Paul Studholme, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Fairclough (Auckland). .Masses of chrysanthemum's stood among the candles oil the altar in the Basilica, Hill Street, when Dorothy Margaret, only daughter of Mrs. Martin, Hawkestono Street, and tlio lato Dr. Albert Martin, was married to Bernard Morgan Grace, second son of Captain and Mrs. Grace White, Hobson Street, on Thursday afternoon. The bride was escorted into the church by her brother, Mr. G. A. Martin, and was attended by one bridesmaid, her cousin. Miss Suzanne Hughes. The best man was Mr. Charles MacDermott, and Messrs. Godfrev Harconrt, Fat Hughes and Tom White (Hawke's Bay) were ushers. The ceremony was performed by the Rt. Rev. Monsignor Connolly, and beautiful organ music was played by Miss Milligan. Golden magnolia satin formed the bride's graceful wedding gown, which was made with a high neck slightly cowled in front and fastening from neck to waist at the back with tinv covered buttons. A flared panel let into the back of the skirt formed a long pointed train. Ovpr this fell the handclnbroidered tullo veil, of the same golden shade as the gown, winch was held to the head by a halo band oJ plaited satin with a tiny posy of orange blossom on either side. A bouquet 01 freesias, roses, yellow irises and maidenhair fern was carried. Tho bridesmaid s bouquet and the halo wreath she wore in her hair were of nerines, heath and carnations mixed with violets in shades to tone with her frock of mauve georgette, which was worn over s pink slip.
