SEAMAN KILLED
FALL FROM ALOFT ACCIDENT ON COLLIER HEAD STRIKES STEEL DECK Falling 25ft. from a gantry on to the steel deck of the Union Steamship Company's collier Kiwitea on Saturday afternoon a seaman, Mr. Alexander Fulton, aged 43, single, suffered a fracture of the skull and died a few minutes later. Mr. Fulton was a native of Scotland.
The collier was about to move from Chelsea to King's Wharf to complete discharge of her coal cargo when Mr. Fulton, who was working aloft on the gantry between No. 4 and No, 5 holds, missed his footing and fell, striking tho deck. Fie was unconscious and died before anything could be done for him. At an inquest held before Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M.. coroner, yesterday afternoon a verdict of accidental death was returned.
