NOTES ON TIIE RACING 'sOLWIT'S DECISIVE WIN [RV TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] CHRISTCHTTRCH. Saturday Solwit and Wexford Bridge shared ' favouritism in the Longbeach Hurdles at Ashburton to-day, and the former had a decisive win. Wexford Bridge jeopardised his chance by whipping round when the barrier lifted and losing several lengths. Solwit went away with a lead, and Wexford Bridge ran up quickly along the back to be second going across the top. Wexford Bridge weakened at the last fence and Pahu finished on solidly to beat him for second. Solwit, although kept up to his task, had a clear length to spare at the post. Silver Sail and Honour's Lass raced abreast in front from the start in the Eiffel ton Hack Handicap, with Pontv. Convivial, Universe and Rooming handy. Silver Sail shook off Honour's Lass as soon as the straight was entered and was then tackled by Pontv. who finally heat her with case. Credit Funds was made a slightly better favourite than Royal Doulton in the Selnia Trot, and they finished first and second, Credit Funds securing an all-the-wav win. Royal Doulton made a determined effort, but had no chance of overhauling Credit Funds, who won with something in hand. Parisienne finished resolutely for third Silver Streak was responsible for an outstanding performance in winning the Autumn Handicap, carrying topweight and running the mile and a-quarter in 2.4 2-5. He outstayed Argentic in the long run home, and won in a convincing manner. After Grand Review and Cranford had been well clear early, Moonbeam assumed the lead at the home turn from Argentic and Golden Dart. Argentic had charge a furlong from home, but Silver Streak challenged and beat him bv n length.

The Trial Stakes provided a close finish. Investors made Cyrillian a good favourite and she recorded the first win for Mr. H. D Greenwood's colours. Culotte showed out when the field had settled down and was first to enter the straight. She looked a likely winner until Cyrillian drew up to her inside the distance and Chief Lama made a forward move. A hard tussle ensued, Cyrillian staying on best to win bv ha'f-a-length from Chief Lama.

Willie Win outclassed a somewhat weak field in the Fairfield Hack Handicap. Willie Win moved up roundin"' the home turn and was second to Colleen Ougue entering the straight. The leader did not last long in the straight, where Execution and then Last Refrain challenged. Ne'tlier could make any imnression and Willie Win was being eased up at the post.

•Emissary was sent out a coed favourite for the Flying Handicap and be had a decisive success. Ho beean smartly and, except that Great Star ran up alongside him during the middle staeos. he was in the lend throughout. Peter Silk was sent out. a good favourite for the Raknia Trot, but when running in a forward position three furlongs from home he had to be pulled up, owing to one of the lenders.
