FEAT AT CAMBRIDGE PLAY IN FOUR-BALL MATCH J. BANKS RETURNS CARD OF 72 [FROM OUll OWN COIUtKSPON DENTJ CAMBRIDGE, Sunday The course record of the Cambridge Golf Club was unofficially broken during the week by J. Hanks, who returned the excellent score of 72 for 18 holes. The record-breaking round was made during a four-ball game with L. R. Haworth, It. S. Allorcl and E. Nicklo but, not being a club match, cannot be recognised officially. The official record of was established by Alford in May last year, ho having reduced an earlier record of 74 hold by himself and also H. N. Freeman and R. L. Ingham.
Bunks bus not been playing serious suit for several seasons, but in 1927 he won the senior championship of the club and lust year secured the premier men's title of the Wairnkuu Club at Hornhorn. He had a fine record- in match play, particularly during the earlier years of the Cambridge Club. Excellent approaches and putting were features of his round. Banks played consistently good golf and was beaten by bogey only on four occasions, while he secured "birdies" nt the twelfth, sixteenth and 18th holes. The remaining twelve holes were played in bogey.
