UNIVERSITY'S EASY WIN
COLLEGE RIFLES OUTCLASSED The University fifteen proved too strong for College Rifles on No. 3. groynd and the outcome was a decisive victory. This was University's first win this season, the other two matches having been drawn. As indicated by the score of 38 points to nil. the game was too one-sided to be thrilling. Thompson, the College Rifles half, handled the ball well, resulting in many attempts "to score on the part of the backs. These rushes were invariably nipped in the bud before they could get very far, this being lttributable to the good tackling of Mulvihill and Comes. Among the College Rifleo forwards Passmore. as hooker, was responsible for some valuable work, in that lie won the ball from, most of the scrums. It was unfortunate . that his efforts were not taore fruitful. Bush's kicking was a great ■ asset to University. He was unsuccessful Vitb three or / four kicks, but. in spite !of this, 17 points were registered by the ifallback. Next to Bush, Kirkland was the outstanding back on the field. Thomas did . e great deal of work in the University forwards, and. with Newman and Davidson, ■ provided many pieces of sparkling play. The University backs combined better and Jassed more accurately than they did in the opening game*. The College Rifles team was altered too touch to have any real combination, biu Rood individual play by Clapham. wno formerly represented Grammar, and McCormack and Wales often appeared dan Bw>us. , For University. Lewis (3), Kirkland, --Thomas. Comes and Newman scored tries. ! Banh converted four tries and kicked thre* lenalty goals. Mr. Kirk-Bunynand was referee.
