SALE OF PETROL
THE BULK USERS A statement that it had been informed that the Government intended to bring down legislation by which bulk users of petrol would not bo able to draw supplies direct from the petrol companies, was made by the Automobile Association, Waimate, in a letter received by the executive of the South Island Motor Union. The association said it understood bulk users were to be compelled to purchase from tho resellers. "This will be a very serious matter for a number of our members," the association's letter read, "and the association asks tho union to take it up with other affiliated associations so that it might be opposed." Tho executive decided to ask the Government whether any such legislation as had been been mentioned was contemplated. If it was, the executive could consider taking further action.
