AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION OPENING OF THE NEW SEASON The Auckland Basketball Association's 1936 season was officially opened at the Windmill Road courts on Saturday, when 800 players took part in a knockout tournament. The president, Miss J. D. Neil, welcomed new players before presenting the trophies won iast year. Following are the results:—

Senior A Grade.—First round: St. Benbclict's, 4, University White, 1; West Suburbs won from Training College by default; Grammar 3, Aruhi, 2; University Blue, 3, Surrey Hills, 1; Killarua, 3, Edendule. ti; Colleniate, 10, Seddon, 2. Second round: St. Benedict's*, 4, Western Suburbs, 2; Edendale, 7, Collegiate, 0. Final: University, o, Edendule, 3 Senior .Reserve Grude.—First round: Mount Eden Tuis, 2.
