ADVANCE in taupiri coal
Turnover was well maintained' in the investment market on the Auckland Stork Exchange yesterday. Values generally showed a slight easing although Taupiri Coal shares showed ' marked firming, following on the announcement of the payment of an ordinary dividend few holders of Government loans entered the market, but offers for most ; ssU es closed firmer. In the banking section New Zealand* again sold at the reduced rate of -I.V hut levels were raised during the day. Now South Wales (Sydney ivgi>ier) "ere secured 7s 6d cheaper at £:W. Other issues ve re steady or strcusirr. New Ze:i!:iml Insurance shares 10-t grnuiul. selling 2d lower at tit's 10J. Taupiri Coals moved up Is ;ld to 18s 3d, at which price more were available. Auckland Gas were active and transfers were made at 2(>s and 06s Id. losses of 2d and Id, respectively. The 15s paid issue changed hands 9d higher at 19s 6d. After a sale at recent advanced levels. Northern Steam dropped Id to 6s lid. Timbers had a fairly good inquiry, but both Kauri and Leylaml-O'Brien were secured at lower rates. Woollens were firmer, Kaiapois continuing to improve and gaining lid on sale at 15s 6d, while Wellington Woollens moved up 13s 6d to £6 4s 6d on the last sale about a month ago. In continuance of a decline in Consolidated Bricks, a parcel changed bands 2d lower at 9s 7d. Macky Logans failed to maintain a recent sharp rise, falling back 3d to 20s 6d. Wilsons Cement recovered, selling 6d dearer at 43s 6d. A gain of 2s was made by Woolnorths (N.Z.), in dealing at £5 18s.
