TENDERS FOR BREAD
WAITOMO HOSTEL SUPPLY t GOVERNMENT'S ACT CRITICISED [by telegrafh—-OWN correspondent] TE KUITI, Thursday Severe criticism of the Government's action in calling tenders for the supply of bread to the Government Hostel at Waitomo, when all other consumers, including institutions actually in competition with the hostel, had to pay the price fixed by tlte Government for their bread, was expressed to-day in To Kuiti. The schedule has been received by all bakers* within easy reach of the hostel calling for . tenders for the supply of bread there, and it contained the information that in submitting tenders bakers need not consider themselves bound by the regulations now in existence regarding the baking industry. It was pointed out that under the regulations there were fixed rates for bread that was delivered, bread sold over the counter, and bread sold on a wholesale basis. Local boarding houses could not be sold bread at even wholesale rates, as it was not afterward retailed, but the Government had apparently placed its own hostel outside the regulations.
