OLYMPIC GAMES TEAM
FAREWELL AT WELLINGTON PRIME MINISTER ON SPORT [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Wednesday A farewell was extended to members of the New Zealand Olympic team by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, in his room in Parliament Buildings to-day. Associated with Mr. Savage were other members of the Cabinet, and also present were the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes and the Jit. Hon. J. G. Coatcs. The Games will take place in Berlin in August. Mr. Savage extended the best wishes of the Government and the people, and said he felt the Dominion would be worthily represented. Galsworthy had said that if ever the fair play spirit of sport reigned over international affairs tlie cat force which ruled them now would shrink away and human life would emerge for the first time from the jungle. It would be a wonderful thing, said Mr. Savage, if the fair play spirit in the world of sport ruled in the international sphere. Members of the team know the spirit of sport, and if they could only have that in their minds and see something of other aspects of life on their trip they would probably be able to say they were glad they were sportsmen and not statesmen. Messrs. Forbes and Coates also extended their best wishes to the team. Mr. H. McCormick replied on behalf of the New Zealand Olympic Games Association.
At Mr. Savage's call, cheers were given for the team.
