BLIND MAN HIT BY TRAM
SEVERE HEAD INJURIES [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday A blind man, Mr. Herbert Washer, single, aged 47, received severe head injuries when he was struck by a trara in the city to-night. Mr. Washer was crossing High Street near the Triangle and did not hear tho approach of a New Brighton tram travelling toward Cathedral Square, for ho walked in its path and was knocked over and struck unconscious. It is believed that tho driver of the tram did not realiso that Mr. Washer was blind until tho tram was close to him. Mr. Washer's injuries, it is believed, include a fractured skull. His condition is serious, and late to-night ho was still unconscious.
