NOTED CRICKETER WEDS CE.REMONIES LAST ALL DAY BOMBAY, May 5 There were imposing scenes at the Maharaja's palace at the wedding of Prince Duleepsinhji to Jayara Kumari, riece of the Maraharaja of Rajpipla. The ceremonv was carried out in the women's section of tho palaco, to which the only men admitted were priests, the bridegroom and tho Maharaja of Rajpipla,
The ceremonies lasted all day and ended at midnight, when Prince Duloepsinbji and his bride went to his camp.
Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji, ono of India's greatest cricketers, was born in 190£ i and educated at Cheltenham School, England, and Cambridge University. He is the nephew of the late Ilanjitsinhji, ruler of the State of Nawanagar, who will long be remembered by cricketers as " Ranji." Prince Duleepsinhji showed great promise as a, cricketer from his school days, and liis progress was watched closely by his uncle. He was a member of the English team against South Africa in 1929 and against Australia in 1930. A year later Lo was made captain of Sussex, but at the end of the 1932 season lung trouble forced him to resign. Although his health improved, Prince Duleepsinhji. under medical advice, refrained from playing in firstclass matches, and in 1934 he left for India, partly for his health's sake and partly because he felt the time had come when he should take an active interest in the political affairs of his r.ative land.
