JHE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE FIRMER TREND IN LOANS i The firmer trend in levels for Government loans continued in the investment piarket on the Auckland Stock Exchange !yesterday. The 1939-43, 3} per cent ttocks were done at £lO2 ss. In one ijssue this' represented a gain of 27s 6d 'tiince March and in the other a loss of Js 6d only on cum interest dealing in February." The 4 per cent stocks had * improved, inquiry, but supplies were 'scarce. 1 Buyers returned to the market for jbanks, but the general tendency was easier. New Zealands continued to (decline, closing busing at 45s registering a drop of 6d. Buying limits for New 'Zealand Insurance dropped back after dealing-at the current rate. In continuance of the upward movement oilers lor Bycrofts advanced by £)d to Jti.s, but sellers were silent and jio business was done. There wore slight fluctuations in leveis for breweries, while .timbers had -a limited inquiry. A parcel 'of National Timbers, the accounts of 'which are duo shortly, changed hands I'd higher at. 14s 9d. Consolidated Bricks and Traders' Finance (7s 6d paid) were secured a't lower rates. Australian industrials were fairly active, the outstanding feature being a sale at 68s lid jn Burns, Philp, which were strongly sought. This price is 6s Sd above the sale" level in December. Dunlop Perdriaus added 5d in a transfer at 16s 2d, while Broken Hills were a shade cheaper.
