SELECTOR CONGRATULATED NAVY MATCH ON MAY 30 Congratulations on his appointment as one of the three New Zealand selectors for matches against the Australian team were extended to Mr. J. Tinker by the chairman, Mr. L. Munro, at last evening's meeting of the control board of the Auckland football Association. It was agreed that the final for the Home Cup, a trophy competed for by the ships of the New Zealand Naval Squadron, should be staged at Blandford Park as the early game on May 23. As the ships will be out of port on the Kmg'B Birthday, it was decided to play the annual representative match against the Navy on May 30. The question of also playing championship matches on that day, owing to the heavy fixture list, was discussed, and it was agreed to request the senior division committee to consider the matter and bring forward a report. . . . It was reported by the Referees Association that several teams had been late in arriving on the ground last Saturday. The rules provided that a team ready to start at the appointed time, after a wait of 10 minutes for its opponents, could claim the match. Mr. J. Ball said that sometimes both teams were late, thus making it impossible to full time, owing to failing light. The board decided that the referees should enforce the rule, and if a tenm was over 10 minutes late the match should be awarded to the opposing team. . , , , . The number of defaults reported in the opening matches, particularly among the lower grades, raised the question of clubs fulfilling their obligations to field the requisite number of teams. It was decided that the fixtures committee be asked to submit a report on the matter at the next meeting of the board. . . .... Mr. R. E. Champtaloup intimated his intention of donating a medal or trophy lor the most proficient goalkeeper in the fourth grade competition. It was agreed to thank Mr. Champtaloup for the donation and to refer the matter to the junior management committee. . , . , A motion of sympathy was carried with the relatives of the lnte Mr. W.
