ACTIVITIES OF THE CHURCH YEAR'S WORK REVIEWED The year's work of the Auckland Chinese Church is reviewed in the annual report prepared by its minister, the l?ev. Y. S. Chan, who has been in charge for the past five years. The church was founded more than 20 years ago. The report states that there are 50 Chinese shops in the city providing occupation for about 300 Chinese, and 80 gardens in the suburbs with about 400 men engaged in them. Church services, Sunday school and prayer meetings are regularly carried on. The young men's club founded three years ago has made much progress and increased attention is being paid to exerciso and also to reading and study. Seven magazines and newspapers from China are provided for the members of the club. In spite of the fact that the times have not been prosperous for the Chinese people, they have not ceased to subscribe to good objects. In one year they gave £B4 to help the Dr. Sun University in Canton; £8 toward the Leung Faat Church in Saam Chau; £52 to help a blind man to return to China; and £lO3 toward the church. In all these objects the church has taken the lead. During the last five years 15 new members have been added to the church.

The report records visits paid to the Chinese crews of vessels calling at Auckland and visits to the gaol. It also outlines a forward programme of evangelism designed to reach, through the other centres, nil of the 2000 Chinese in New Zealand.
