SPECIAL AUCKLAND FOREGABT COLD AND STORMY WEATHER' The Government meteorologist, issued to the Herald last evening the follow, ing special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Moderate to strong north, erly winds, of gale force in places, hack, ing to southerlies to-morrow. The weather is likely to be dull, misty and squally, with general and some heavy rain. Thunder and hail" are probable in places. Temperatures becoming cold, and seas rough. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —The weather continued overcast and unsettled yesterday until evening, when continuous light rain fell. The wind was light and varied between north-west and west. The ternperature at 4 p.m. was 66 degrees. Early in the afternoon the barometer had fallen .18in. Afterwards it was steady. Barometer, minight. falling .. 29.85 in. Midnight, Tuesday .. .. 30.05 in, Wellington.—The day was very unsettled, with a boisterous north, westerly gale accompanied by almost continuous rain until about 3 p.m., when the wind moderated somewhat./ From 9 a.m. until. 3 p.m. 53 points of rain fell. The minimum temperatur« on Tuesday night was 53 degrees and the maximum temperature yesterday was 57 degrees. Christchurch. —The weather yesterday was fine and overcast in the morn, ing, with some sunshine in the late afternoon. The maximum temperature was 59 degrees and the minimum 52. There was a very light north-easterly breeze in the morning and a light west-south-westerly in the afternoon. The barometer was rising slowly_ and the reading last evening was 29w2in. Dunedin. —After rain overnight the weather yesterday morning was dull but the sun shone brightly in the afternoon and conditions generally were mild.
