CAMBRIDGE JUBILEE
COMMITTEES APPOINTED TROTTING MEETING PROSPECTS [from our own correspondent] CAMBRIDGE, Wednesday Arrangements for the celebration of the jubilee of Cambridge, from August 19 to 23, are being steadily advanced, and at a meeting of the committee last night the main sub-committees were appointed as follows: — Publicity.—Messrs. C. _W. Vcnnell and L Cornaga. Entertainment: Mrs. G. G. L. Taylor, Messrs. T. H. Hampshire, S. N. Ziman, W. Weatherell, A. G. Boyce, G. A. James, G. Calvert, T. Dagg, J. S. Fisher, F. R. Wooldridge, F. H. Green. T. H. Boyce and Rev. C. W. Chandler. Sports: Presidents and secretaries of the golf, bowling, racing and football clubs and chairmen and secretaries of district school committees. Accommodation: Mrs. S. Lewis and Mr.. Edgar James. Lighting and decorations: Messrs. M. Wells, W. Moore, J. S. Fisher, H. C. Oaten and T. Dix. Executive: The chairmen of sub-committees.
Mr. 11. S. Entwistle was appointed organising secretary for tho jubilee. The Mayor, Mr. C. H. Priestley, will be a member of each sub-committee.
The question of holding n special trotting mc.eting caused considerable discussion, when Mr. T. H. Hampshire, secretary of tho Trotting Club, intimated that his application for a permit would be favourably dealt with by tho Trotting Conference. Mr. Hampshire said ho had written to the conference, as requested at tho previous meeting. The secretary had replied that tho president was pleased to recommend to the conference that tho floating permit of tho Northland Club be allocated to Cambridge for August 22.
