IMPROVEMENT IN FINANCES [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] DARGAVILLE, Wednesday Congratulatory remarks were made by members of the Raupo Drainage Board to the secretary, Mr. E. G. Aitkcn, whose finance report tabled at tho monthly meeting of the board revealed a greatiy-improved financial position. The credit balance at March 31 was £IB9O, and the general account was £B3l in credit, stated Mr. Aitken. Ten J-ears ago tho overdraft stood at £2570 and the general account was £3112 in debit. The position at March 31, 1936, showed an improvement in tho bank of £4460, and in tho general account of £3943. Loan interest accounts wore £925 in credit, and no intorest was owing, while ten years ago interest accounts were £l9 in debit and £BSO was owing to lenders, but could not bo paid, as the overdraft was up to the limit. The percentage of rates collected for 1935-36 was 76.4.
