SIMPLER INCOME TAX
QUESTION BY MR. POLSON MATTER UNDER DISCUSSION [BY TELEGEAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] WELLINGTON. Wednesday The suggestion that the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, should consider the setting 4 up of a committee to consider the simplification of income tax. the fostering of farm accountancy and the interlinking of farm accountancy forms and income tax forms \ made by Mr. W. J. Poison (Opposition z —Stratford) in an urgent question addressed to the Minister in the House of Representatives to-day. Mr. Poison suggested that the committee should consist of representatives of the Labour Department, for unemployment taxation, the Income Tax Department, the New Zealand Society |of Accountants, Farm Accountancy | Association interests and the Farmers' | Union. He stated that if the farm acI countancy forms were printed in quadI ruplicateand used as part of the income j tax return a great amount of clerical work would be saved And farm accountancy would be encouragedj thus making available reliable information of great value. The Minister replied that he had already discussed the matter with the departments concerned with a view to ascertaining .what could be done.
