WORLD'S BEST LADY PLAYER In the opinion of F. R. Burrow, nocording to Tennis Illustrated, Mile. Suzanne Lenglen was the finest woman player the world has ever seen. That is coing very far and, in my opinion, a little too far. comments a writer in American Lawn Tennis. Mllo. Lenten was a very great player and the best of those in competition in 1926—which was her last year as an amateur. Jiut the Englishman's opinion fails to give sufficient consideration to Miss Helen Wills, as Mrs. Moody was then. It is on record that Mile. Lenglen beat Miss Wills 6 —3, B—6.8 —6. at the Carlton Club, Cannes, in February, 1920. Mrs. Moody was then only 20 years old and she did not score at Wimbledon until 1927, when she won the first of her seven English championship titles. She had not reached her top when she played Mile. Lenglen in 1926, whereas the French girl was 27 years old and a finished, graceful and matured player, without a peer. What might have happened a year or two after 1926, had the two clashed, is beyond telling, ,
