City Provides Cast for New Film
" ON .THE FRIENDLY ROAD " There is particular interest for Auckland people in the New Zealand Film Guild's recently completed picture "On the Friendly Road" for not only was most of the production carried out in or near the but practically the entire cast are Auckland residents. The parts were taken as follows: — Uncle Scrim, the Rev. C. G. Scrimgeour; Bill, Stanley Knight; McDermott, John Mackie; Mary, Jean Hamilton; Stevenson, James Swan; Harry, Neville Goodwin; Alex, James Martin; Mike, Arnold Goodwin; Snuffy, Harold Metcalfe; the Bobby, Alan Leonard; Hori, Wharepaia; the Chief tainess, Kahu. Other players are: —Gladys Swan, Philippa Hayward, John Bell, Ronald Medland, lan Moir, Ethel Rae and Frederic McCallum. Tho camera director was Rudall Hayward, and Jack Baxendale acted as sound engineer, with Jack McCarthy and Gerhard Diedrichs as associates. The play was by George Altier. R. G. Simmers was soloist and Sam Raymond wrote the musical score.
