THEFT BY COOK
CANDLESTICKS PAWNED The thoffc of two ornamental candlesticks, valued at £1 ss, was admitted by Charles Kennedy, aged 60, a cook, who appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Couit yesterday. Mr. Aekins appeared for accused. Sub-Inspector Fox said that Kennedy came to Auckland recently from Helensville. He took the candlesticks from a boarding-house where he was staying and pawned them for 3s. Kennedy had been drinking and it appeared that he committed offences only when drunk. He had not been in trouble since 1930. Kennedy was fined £2, in default seven days' imprisonment.
