SOUTHERLY CHANGE CLOUDY, WITH SOME FOG The weather report nncl forecast for New Zealand issued last evening by the Government meteorologist were as follows: —A depression is crossing the Dominion, the centre to-day being west of the Cook Strait area. An intense onti-cyclone envelopes Australia and is centred near Adelaide. The indications are for moderate to fresh westerly winds north of Kawliia and East Cape, elsewhere Jight to moderate and variable. but winds becoming westerly in many places and southerly by to-mor-row,' and freshening somewhat. Seas in New Zealand waters slight to moderate, but rising on the West Coast of the North Island, and later between Cook Strait and Banks Peninsula." Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong westerly to southerly winds, with moderate to rather rough seas. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —The weather was wet yesterday and a moderate light wind "was blowing from the north-west. Heavy rain was experienced during the early morning and frequent heavy showers in the evening. The temperature was cool, the thermometer at 4 p.m. registering 63 degrees. Christchurch. —The day was overcast and wet, with a very light westerly wind in the morning, changing to a light north-easter in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 54.6 degrees.
