EASTER TRAIN TRAFFIC AUCKLAND RETURNS HIGHER Marked increases in all types of railway passenger traffic during the Easter holidays, from April 7 to April 13, aro shown in the figures for tho Auckland station, as compared with the corresponding Raster period last year. This year 3540 ordinary tickets, to a value of £917, and .2980 excursion tickets, valued at £2219, were issued, compared with 2438 ordinary tickets (£775) and 2778 excursion tickets (£2038) last year. Tho total number of tickets issued was 6520, an increase of 1304. The total revenue was £3130. an increase of £322. There were 1455 seats reserved, returning a revenue of £73, an increase of £ll over last year, and 116 sleeping berths were booked at a cost of £IOB, an increase of £56, or more than 100 per cent. Traffic on the day. before Good Friday was particularly heavy. On tho principal expresses it was necessary to provide 58 cars, compared with 53 in the previous year and 39 in 1934. Tho special night trains to provincial centres also were well patronised on this date, a total of 78 cars being provided, compared with OS in 1935. On the expresses arriving from Wellington and New Plymouth on the morning of Good Friday, thero were 63 cars, as against 58 last year.
