AUSTRIAN ARMY

OUTBURST BY LEADER CONSCRIPTION OPPOSED WARNING TO CHANCELLOR By Telegraph—-Press Association—Copyright (Received April 27, 7.5 p.m.) VIENNA,' April 2G After a secret meeting of the Heimwehr, which Prince Starhemberg summoned, a communique announced that the leaders had unanimously decided to continue to support the Government. The decision was regarded as an indication that the Heimwehr, which is the Standing Army, had accepted conscription to which it was feared it was opposed because of its importance being thereby lessened. However, subsequently Prince Starhemberg in an address to 15,000 wellarmed members of the Heimwehr said: " The Heimwehr will only be disarmed, dissolved or incorporated in the conscript army, over my dead body." "While the Heimwehr was loyal to Schuschnigg, the Chancellor, it would demand the removal from power of some members of the Cabinet. Dr. Schuschnigg must use the Heimwehr against his so-called friends, otherwise some day he would be removed by them. There are rumours that the Heimwehr is preparing to effect a coup. Armed garrisons everywhere are ready for emergency and the police patrols in Vienna have been doubled.
