BASIC LIVING WAGE
WOMEN'S RATE REDUCED CHANGE NOT TO BE MADE . (Received April 27, 10.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 27 The New South Wales Industrial Commission, in its living wage declaration, has increased the male adult basic wage by sixpence a Week to 695, but the rate for women employees, based on the new standard, is now fixed at 3Gs 6d, compared with the former rate of 375. Following upon strong protests against the reduction of women's wages, the Retail Traders' Association has recommended its members arid the trade generally to make no change in the existing wages of female workers.
