£IO,OOO DONATION
PROTESTANT ORPHANS NORTH AUCKLAND HOME ANONYMOUS BENEFACTORS [by TF.LEGEAFH OWN correspondent] "WHANGAREI. Monday An announcement was made to-day by the trustees of the North Auckland Protestant Orphanage that a donation of gilt-edged securities of approximately £IO,OOO in value, which will produce in interest over £4OO annually, has been made by an Auckland resident and his wife, who desire to remain anonymous. About 10 years ago the donors also anon3 r mously gave a property of over 20 acres at Tikipunga, near Whangarei, to be used as a site for an orphanage for destitute children to be brought up in the Protestant faith. A board of five local trustees, representing the various Protestant denominations, was then formed, and under its care the property has been greatly improved. The interest of over £4OO from the present donation of securities must, according to the terms of the donation, be applied solely toward maintenance. The trustees have for some years been partly maintaining one North Auckland boy at the Brett Orphanage in Auckland, the revenue from the property at Tikipunga being used for this purpose. The trustees are anxious to apply the income from the securities in the direction indicated, and now appeal to the residents of North Auckland for funds to build a home costing approximately £IOOO.
