BIG-GAME FISHING
Sir, —A cablegram from Sydney appears in Friday's Herald, stating that at a meeting of the Rod Fishers' Association of New South Wales Mr. Zane Grey had declared that Australia had the'finest big-game fishing waters in the world. As a New Zealaiuler, and one of the pioneers of big-game fishing, 1 cannot let this statement go unchallenged. Mr. Grey has stated half a dozen times that New Zealand had the best fishing waters in the world and the finest Doatmen. We also hold the world's record for nearly every big-game fish that exists. Mr. Grey is an expert big-game fisherman, but he cannot dispute the fact that there are no fishing waters in the world where you can catch hroadbill swordfish, black marlin swordfish, striped marlin swordfish, the great mako, arid kingfish, like you can on the New Zealand coast, to say nothing about other enormous sharks Mr. Grey also knows there are certain parts of our coast where we can fish in nearly all weathers. E. C. Arlidce.
