PRESENTATIONS
On the evo of his departure for England on six months' leave of absence, Mr. H. A. Yockney, town clerk of Onehunga, was presented by tho Mayor and Borough Council with a travelling trunk. The Mayor, Mr. J. Park, said that Mr. Yockney had given (31 years of service to the borough, and he had fully earned an extended holiday. Mr. Yockney stated that he had served under seven Mayors and 16 councils. The population of Onehunga had grown from 3000 to 12,000 since ' he took office in 1905. At that date _ the town was undrained, only partially roaded, and it had neither a water supply nor a library. Now, he continued, Onehnnga ranked with the leading boroughs of tho Dominion in its public amenities. The presentation of a dinner sot was made to Mr. J. A. Sommervillo at tho annual meeting of tho Franklin Returned Soldiers' Association. Tho president, Mr. S. P. Day, said that Mr. Sommerville had been the first president of the association and had given valuable service on the executive over a period of years.
