SOUTHERLY WINDS MORE UNSETTLED WEATHEft The weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, were as follows: —A moderate anti-cyclone covers New Zealand and an intense one is located over south-eastern Australia, while a shallow depression is advancing across the Tasman Sea. The indications are for winds variable at first over the North Island, but northerlies soon prevailing generally and freshening somewhat. A change to a southerly direction is probable to-mor-row in the Far South, and southerlies will again extend over the Dominion within the next 24 to 36 hours. Sea 3 in New Zealand waters slight to moderate, but rising later about Cook and Foveaux Straits and on the west coast of the South Island. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate northerly winds, freshening and backing soon to. the south in the southern portion, and southerlies becoming general during tomorrow. Seas slight to moderate, but rising in the southern portion. The weather is liktely to be fair generally at first, but clouding over and rain developing soon in western and far southern districts. Later, conditions will become more generally unsettled, with rain extending to eastern areas also. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST CLOUDY, WITH SCATTERED RAIN'' The Government meteorologist issued to the Hf.rald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Light to moderate and variable winds, with northerlies predominating. The weather is likely to be fair at first, but clouding over to-morrow, and scattered rain developing. Seas. slight to moderate. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —There was a continuation of fine sunny weather yesterday and the wind was very light and variable. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 63 degrees. The barometer was above normal last night after rising .10in. during the 24 hours. Barometer, midnight, steady ~ 30.05 in, Midnight, Sunday .. .. 29.95 in.

Wellington.—The day was fair, though mostly cloudy, with a light northerly breeze. The minimum temperature on Sunday night was 43.2 degrees, and the maximum yesterday 57.8 degrees. Christchurch. —The weather was fine, but rather cloudy, with a moderate | north-easterly breeze. The maximum temperature was 54 degrees. The barometer was rising slowly, the reading last evening being 30.07 in.

Dunedin. —Fine and clear weather prevailed, with continuous sunshine and a very light north-east wind. The barometer rose to 30.20 in., and then became steady.
