GALLIPOLI GRAVES
NO TAMPERING LIKELY AUTHORITIES CONFIDENT LONDON, April 26 The Daily Telegraph's Angora correspondent states that the British and Turkish authorities describe as inconceivable any tampering with British cemeteries on Gallipoli in the event of the refortification of the Dardanelles. The newspapers especially draw attention to the importance that Britain attaches to the cemeteries, which is shown in the care and expense devoted to their maintenance. It is stated that Turkey will always guarantee the inviolability of the cemeteries, although the question of war graves will be raised when the Powers discuss the Straits Convention, as it is necessary to establish regulations that will permit of uninterrupted facilities for visiting and tending the graves, simultaneously with respecting Turkey's desire for secrecy in her fortified zones. The Turks declare that there will bo no difficulty in arriving at an understanding.
