DEFENDANT RETURNING EMBARKS ON MONOWAI SYDNEY, April 24 The extradition proceedings in connection with J. W. S. McArthur—said to have been the most protracted in the history of Australia—ended to-day, when McArthur left Sydney under escort for New Zealand by the Monowai to answer a charge of having issued a false prospectus. Defendant, who was arrested on a provisional warrant last October, appealed unsuccessfully to the Supreme Court of New South Wales, then to the High Court of Australia.
