FIRM MARKET FOR LAMBS SHORTAGE OF FROZEN BEEF The following cablegram regarding the Smithfield meat market has been received by the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board: —Lambs: The market continues firm for light-weights and medium-weights, with heavyweights slightly easier. Mutton: Thp market for wethers and ewes is steady and unchanged. Beef: Frozen beef is nominal. The market continues short of supplies. New Zealand porkers: The market is steady and unchanged. New Zealand baconers: The market is unchanged, but the tendency is easier. FARMERS' TRADING COMPANY MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS A meeting of the holders of Farmers' Trading B preference shares, the nominal value of which includes a broken portion of a pound will be held in the Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, May 5. The meeting will consider the following arrangement proposed to be made between these holders and holders of A preference shares in a similar position: —Following the next annual general meeting of the company, if the undivided profits then available are in the opinion of the directors sufficient for the purpose, a bonus of 2s a share will be declared on every A preference, B preference and ordinary share, to be satisfied by the issue of fully-paid ordinary shares of £1 each, except as to fractions of a pound, which may be satisfied by cash, fractional certificates or otherwise as the directors think fit. Simultaneously, all the above-named shares will be converted by consolidation and subdivision into £1 shares, and where the nominal value of the shares of any A or B preference shareholder includes a broken portion of a pound, and will not therefore divide into a complete number of pound shares, this broken portion shall be converted into ordinary capital and added to the bonus capital to which the shareholder will be entitled.
