FATAL COLLISION

DEATH OF A CYCLIST A verdict of accidental death was returned at an inquest held into the death of Daniel Strong, aged 60, waterside worker, who was involved in a cycling accident at the intersection of Hobson and Fanshawe Streets on March 7 and died in the Auckland Hospital on April 8. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., was coroner, while Mr. McLiver appeared for the relatives and Mr. Turner for the driver of tho car with which deceased collided. William Stanley McLean said he was driving his motor-car down Fanshawe Street and saw a cyclist coming down Hobson Street. The cyclist appeared to be going too fast and a 9 witness did not think he had tho machine under control, witness stopped to allow him to pass in front of the car. After he stopped the cyclist appeared to try to pass behind the car, but collided with the left side. Medical evidence was given that death was due to a fracture of the skull.
