WHANGAREI DECISION FORTHCOMING FIXTURE INVITATION TO MR. SAVAGE [from our own correspondent! WHANGAREI, Sunday The executive of the Whangarei Agricultural and Pastoral Society has adopted a recommendation from the Winter Show Committee to enlarge the Winter Show Hall by extending the lean-to section by 14ft. When this has been done, the width of the No. 2 building will be 49ft. It is proposed to rearrange the space for the next winter show, lhat portion occupied last year by the bacon and sheep exhibits will this year be used for the All-Australian court, an exhibit to be arranged by the Australian Trade Commissioner. A wireless court, a new departure, also will be established. In the Women's Institute sections it is proposed to have three classes, one for courts from institutes in the district, another for thrift and arts and crafts, and a third for two po.ints prizes for the institute gaining the most points in the open competition classes. _ The committee has invited th.e Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, to open the show on June 30. Mr. Savage has replied that it is too early yet for him to say whether he will be able to perform the ceremony. PROFIT ON STOCK DISPLAY DETAILS OF FINANCES [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Sunday A statement presented at a meeting of the Whangarei Agricultural and Pastoral Society showed that the recent stock show held by the Society resulted in a profit of £6, compared with a loss of £154 on the fixture held in 1935. The expenditure amounted to £BO2, which included prize money and trophies £330, advertising and printing £122 and bacon pigs £132. The receipts included entry fees £194, gate receipts £219, bacon pigs in store £l9O.
