THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE fair volume of business A fair volume of business was transacted in the investment market on the Auckland Stock Exchange on Friday. Values generally were steady and several advances were made. Government loans were sought but holders were reticent. Tho 1949 4 per cent bonds dropped 30s on the last sale over a month ago. The 1940 4 per cent stock, however, advanced 2s 6d to £lO2 2s 6d. Banks were dull. Accommodation movements in Commercials of Australia led to a transfer 3d higher at 20s 3d. P.eserve Banks sold at £6 lis 9d, an increase of 15s 3d On the last transfer' at the beginning of the month, although tbe same levels have recently been reached in the South. Industrials were again active. There was an advance of Id in Northern Steam shares. New Zealand Breweries were in demand at reduced levels and two parcels changed hands 3d lower at 525. Buyers for Farmers' Tradings were in evidence, three transactions being made at the recent high level of 9s 6d. G. J. Coles were stronger, a sale at 73s establishing an advance of Is 6d. Current level sales were made in New Zealand Newspapers and New Zealand Refrigerating, £1 paid. The Stock Exchange was closed on Saturday on account of Anzac Day.

DALGETY AND COMPANY UNCHANGED INTERIM DIVIDEND (Received April 2G, 5.5 p.1E..) LONDON, April 25 The 'directors of Dalgety and Company, Limited, have declared an interim dividend at the rate of 2s 6d a £5 share, tax free. Distribution will be made on May 15. This compares with an interim dividend last year of 5 per cent per annum.
