SOUTHERLY WINDS FEW SHOWERS ON COAST The weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, were as follows: —An anti-cyclone now extends on to the Dominion, but the pressure is still low to the east, and a depression is located over the south-west portion of the Tasman Sea. The indications are for strong, southerly winds on parts of the East Coast, but decreasing and otherwise moderate, later veering to a north-westerly direction about and south of Cook Strait. Seas in New Zealand waters: A considerably southerly swell south of East Cape, elsewhere slight to moderate. In the eastern Tasman Sea, moderate southerly winds in the northern portion, and westerly and veering to north-westerly in the southern portion. Seas slight to moderate. The weather is likely to be fair to fine. Seas will be slight to moderate. WEEK-END WEATHER Auckland.—A moderate to fresh westerlv wind was experienced on Friday and Saturday, when the weather continued unsettled and showery. Yesterday was fine and sunny, but the southerly wind made the conditions cool in the shade. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 66 degrees. Wellington.—The weather on Friday was for the most part cloudy,, with occasional light showers and a strong and squally north-westerly wind. The maximum temperature was 57.7 degrees. The maximum temperature was 54.5 degrees. Yesterday was also cold and mostly cloudy, with a southerly wind, which decreased during the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 51.4 degrees.

Christchurch. —There was bright, sunny weather on Friday morning, but in the afternoon it clouded over. Saturday was boisterous, with a strong westerly wind and cold, driving rain. The wind dropped during the night and the rain ceased, yesterday being pleasantly fine and sunny, with a gentle breeze. After rising slowly, the barometer was steady yesterday afternoon, when the reading was 30.08 in. Dunedin. —A light breeze from the north-east and thick mist characterised the weather on Friday. There was a total absence of sunshine, and temperatures were cold. The barometer rose from 29.45 in. to 29.75 in. The pressure continued to rise on Saturday, but the breeze freshened, and there wera heavy showers of'rain all day. The maximum temperature was 55 degrees. There was a return to settled weather yesterday, and bright sunshine was_ experienced throughout the day. A light breeze from the north-east kept the temperature down, the maximum for the day being 54 degrees. Ihe barometer was steady last evening, when the reading was 30.00 in.
