AUSTRALIAN CRICKET
NEW le:g-before rule DECISION TO ADOPT (Received April 26, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 25 The Australian Cricket Board of Control at its meeting yesterday decided to adopt the new experimental leg-before-wicket rule and to instruct its delegate to the Imperial Cricket Conference in London on May 25 to support its inclusion in th} laws of cricket. The board received a letter from the Maharaja of Patiala recording the unqualified success of the tour of India by Mr. Frank Tarrant's team, and hoping it would be the forerunner of many more such tours. The board decided not to approve of the choosing of any player against England in the forthcoming season who during the season writes or contributes any article concerning play in any firstclass match, or upon prospects of the selection of any cricketer. Any player who is a professional journalist may obtain the permission of the chairman of the board to write or contribute comments or articles on play on any match other than a test match.
The board completely banned the broadcasting by any player of comments upon the matches against the Marylebone Cricket Club. It was decided to invite members of the Marylebone Club committee or other members to visit Australia with the 1936-37 English team.
