STATE OF HIGHWAY
CRITICISM BY BISHOP " POSITIVELY DANGEROUS" [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] ROTORUA. Thursday Strong criticism of tho condition of the unsealed stretch of main highway between the Mamaku turn-off and Cambridge was made by Bishop F. A. Bennett, Bishop of Aotearoa. who arrived in Rotorua last night after travelling over tho route. "It is positively dangerous," ho said, " and tho authorities responsible for tho upkeep should bo made to move in tho direction of making this popular highway safe for ordinary traffic. " Tho deep potholoH, Rome on the bitumen, but most on tho unmetalled sections, are a j-eal source of danger It is beyond a joke to ask the owner of a car to drive over such corrugations and risk smashing his car springs. With a few more wet days this road will bo in a dangerous condition unless the grader is used over it immediately."
